A BlackHawk Homes Project

This one’s close to the heart. Sunset Point is a joint venture between myself and the OG crew at BlackHawk Homes — one of those rare projects where we stuck our necks out and landed on something special.

What we found was a hidden gem with deep roots: hands down the best lot on Lake Mitchell in Cadillac, Michigan. The property was once part of Sunset Point Cabins, a beloved little resort made up of mini cabins where families came to soak up the sun and enjoy the beach. If you’ve been around Cadillac long enough, you know exactly the place I’m talking about — it was a cherished piece of local history.

Over the years, the resort gave way to residential homes. The main house grew tired, the charm started to fade, and eventually, the property was in need of new energy. That’s where we stepped in — determined to breathe life back into this special place.

Today, the main house and Cabin #9 remain. That cabin? It probably should’ve been torn down, but we couldn’t let go of it. Instead, we brought it back to life — and we’re proud of every inch of it. This project marked a turning point for me, and it’s a perfect example of what I hope to keep doing: reviving character-rich spaces with stories worth telling.

Sunset Point is now a four-season getaway available on Airbnb and VRBO. The municipality allows up to 12 guests, so it’s a perfect spot for families or small groups looking to unwind lakeside.
